What is Morgans’s true identity? What are his true intentions? And why is he so powerful?
Morgans, AKA “Big News” Morgans is the Owner and President of the World Economy Newspaper.

His position and actions make him one of the Emperors of the Underworld.
The Emperors of the Underworld, while not receiving much shine yet, are some of the most influential people in the entire series.

They control money, supplies, drugs, and most importantly; Information.
Morgans’ unique position allows him to manipulate and essentially control the information that is consumed by the public.

He alone decides what people know and what they read. Nothing is published in the newspapers without his approval.

Not even the Government controls him.
This ability alone makes him THE most powerful and influential figure in the One Piece world when it comes to the public eye.

Imagine if all of the media you consumed in your day to day life was controlled by one man. That’s the power of Morgans.
So who is Morgans and what are his motivations?

I believe Big News Morgans is a former Roger pirate and the man who is responsible for creating the next King of the Pirates in the public eye.
Morgans’ true identity is actually still a mystery.

We know that Morgans has the Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Albatross. However the interesting part is, we’ve NEVER seen Morgans outside of his Hybrid form.

Morgans’ human form is completely unknown and up to speculation.
I believe that Morgans’ true identity is Jacksonbanner, a former Roger pirate.

Let me explain.
What do we know about the Roger pirates?

The Roger pirates that we have encountered, Crocus and Rayleigh, both have a common mission.

Their mission, likely Roger’s final order or wish, is to ensure that the next Pirate King is born.
We first met Crocus at the beginning of the Grand Line, at Reversal Mountain.

Crocus was basically the first checkpoint for Luffy. Crocus saw Roger in Luffy and aided Luffy on his way to becoming Pirate King by giving him information on the final island.
The next Roger pirate we met was Silvers Rayleigh.

Rayleigh was waiting at the entrance to the new world, Sabaody Archipelago.

Rayleigh also saw Roger in Luffy and actively trained Luffy so that Luffy could become the King of the Pirates.
So who else has been keeping a close eye on Luffy? Who else wants to see him become the Pirate King? Morgans.
Think about it. Every time Luffy has been in the newspaper, it’s sent him further into the spotlight. Closer to becoming the Pirate King.

Not only has Morgans approved of and possibly written every article about Luffy, he was also responsible for Luffy’s “5th Emperor” title.
Morgans also ignored the World Government and purposefully put Luffy’s Joyboy/Nika form on his bounty and included his “D” initial despite the WG not wanting that information to be released.

Sure he craves drama as a journalist, but there has to be an ulterior motive here.
What if Morgans (Formerly Jacksonbanner of the Roger pirates) is doing all of this to push Luffy to become King of the Pirates?

We had Crocus giving Luffy information at Reversal Mountain and Rayleigh training Luffy at Sabaody. What if Morgans has the same mission?
Since we’ve NEVER seen Morgans in his human form, it’s entirely possible that he’s hiding his identity as Jacksonbanner, a former member of the Pirate King’s crew.

He’s using this disguise aided by his DF and his position as President of the News in order to aid the next King.
This theory probably isn’t new, but I felt like putting my thoughts in on it because I think it’s really interesting.
